SPA Collective Gathering
Wednesday 9 June, 11-1pm on Zoom
We’re calling another SPA-Collective Gathering to help those lovely lot at The Brewhouse, Strode Theatre and Take Art shape their artist development plans for the next 12-months. This conversation will focus specifically on helping to work out what future BarnFest activity might look like. This is a chance for Somerset artists to contribute ideas for where, when, how and what future performance platforms might look like in the county.
Book your place by clicking this link https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/spa-collective-artists-gathering-tickets-154803528521
We’re also working on how we can continue the various Funding Pots available to you: ie BARN Seed Funding, SPA Funding Bid Pot and the SPA Mentoring One-on-One Pot etc. We’ll update you on this and other future ideas for making sure SPA can continue apace. Watch this space.
What are they?
There were four funded opportunities for freelance artists to get together over the last couple of months. This was a place to bring your burning questions and your project ideas. A space to share these things and work together to make practical things happen. The hope is to offer more opportunities to gather like this once we’ve finished.
funding bid pot – on hold
There is some money to pay for a bit of your time in writing bids. It’s that simple. If you are about to write a bid, could do with funding to cover some time, send us an email at email@example.com with a paragraph about your project and the funder you’re applying to. There are grants of £150. First come first served.
mentor one-on-one pot – current
The all important cup of tea chat feels more vital than ever. This fund is to support professional artists in a number of ways:
- A paid for hour of one-on-one time with one of our team (you are both paid)
- A paid for hour of one-on-one time with a mentor/artist of your choosing (again, both paid)
- A paid for… you know the rest, with a person we introduce you to. Paid. Both.
- We can offer £25 per hour per person
There are 20 one-on-one sessions we can cover. First come, first served.
To apply for this opportunity please email a paragraph about your work and who you’d like to talk to for an hour to firstname.lastname@example.org
We are particularly interested in working with artists from groups who are most under-represented in the cultural sector including women, disabled artists and artists from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
We’ve been able to set up The SPA-Collective thanks to support from Take Art’s BARN initiative (funded by the Esme Fairbairn Foundation) and Somerset County Council’s Business Rates Retention scheme.
